Set Fire to the Rain and Set Fire to the Rain Piano Sheet Music
Set Fire to the Rain is Adele's third consecutive #1 hit single in the US from the album 21. The song uses a lush string arrangement that stands apart from many of the other songs on the album. Lyrically, it is one of the most powerful of all Adele songs.
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, better known simply as Adele, is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and multi-instrumentalist. Adele was offered a recording contract from XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo on Myspace in 2006. The next year she received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" award and won the BBC Sound of 2008. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 to much commercial and critical success. It certified four times platinum in the UK, and double platinum in the US. Her career in the US was boosted by a Saturday Night Live appearance in late 2008. At the 2009 Grammy Awards, Adele received the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
Set Fire To the Rain has followed in the footsteps of its two predecessors from 21 in reaching across a wide range of genre charts in the US. It has appeared on rock, dance, Latin, and pop charts. It was written by Adkins, Adele Laurie Blue / Smith, Fraser Lance Thorneycroft.
And the album, 21 is the second studio album. Released on 24 January 2011 in most of Europe, and on 22 February 2011 in North America, it was named after the age of the singer during its production. The album shares the folk and Motown soul influences of her 2008 debut album 19, but was further inspired by the American country and Southern blues music she had been exposed to during her 2008–2009 North American tour An Evening with Adele. Composed in the aftermath of the singer's separation from her partner, the album explores themes of anger, revenge, heartbreak, self-examination, and forgiveness.
Many of the songs on 21 such as this one are about the heartbreaking ending of Adele's first real relationship. She told MTV News in an interview to plug the album's release: "It broke my heart when I wrote this record, so the fact that people are taking it to their hearts is like the best way to recover. 'Cause I'm still not fully recovered. It's going to take me 10 years to recover, I think, from the way I feel about my last relationship. It was the biggest deal in my entire life to date. He made me totally hungry. He was older, he was successful in his own right, whereas my boyfriends before were my age and not really doing much. And he got me interested in film and literature and food and wine and traveling and politics and history, and those were things I was never, ever interested in. I was interested in going clubbing and getting drunk."
Set Fire to the Rain was released on 21 November 2011 as 21's third official single in the United States, and has since peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is the third consecutive number-one single of the same album; the last female singer who achieved this was Katy Perry in 2010 when "Firework" hit number one. Adele is the first female British artist in history to have three consecutive US number ones. With "Rolling in the Deep", "Someone like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain" Adele logged a total of 14 weeks atop of the Billboard Hot 100, this is the most number of weeks at number one a British female artist has had from the same album. The song was voted by readers ofBillboard as their favorite number one hit of 2012.
And Adele performed the song live for the first time on 29 April on The Graham Norton Show. She also performed the track on 3 May at Jools Holland along with the selections "Rolling in the Deep", "Don't You Remember" and "Take It All". Adele also added the song to the set list of her second worldwide tour. FXused "Set Fire to the Rain" to promote the final season of Rescue Me and the show's series finale. The song was also featured in promotional ads for the TV series Ringer and Revenge, which brought it airplay in the United States without her label having to release it to radio stations. It was also used as an "insert theme" on the 2012 Fuji TV series Iki mo dekinai natsu.
Set Fire To The Rain Lyrics
I let it fall, my heart,
And as it fell you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me
My hands, they're strong
But my knees were far too weak
To stand in your arms
Without falling to your feet
But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win
But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cry
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
When laying with you
I could stay there, close my eyes
Feel you here, forever
You and me together, nothing is better
Cause there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win
But I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Where I felt something die, 'cause I knew that
That was the last time, the last time
Sometimes I wake up by the door
As if that heart you caught is still waiting for you
Even now when it's already over
I can't help myself from looking for you
I set fire to the rain
Watched it pour as I touched your face
Let it burn while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Where I felt something die
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh
Oh, oh
Let it burn, oh
Let it burn
Let it burn
Setting fire to the rain, for me is about doing the impossible. I think that the song is about a relationship in which she knows (mind) the relationship wrong and destroying her but when she sees him (heart) she cannot resist going back to him for the moment only knowing that in the morning he will hurt her again by leaving. I wonder if it is not so much about a new relationship as it is with the same guy. He ignores her with no real commitment, but then he comes around and she is too unstable or unhealthy to say NO. When he is not there, she longs for him even though he hurts her over and over. Her mind says the relationship is over, but her passion gives in when he shows up or contacts her. Her is a jerk and she is not strong enough to not give in.....wonder if this could be a dream?
All in all, with the release of her second album 21 the floodgates opened and she turned into a worldwide superstar with three consecutive #1 hit singles in the US. Except for Set Fire to the Rain, there are several other best songs.
One is Rolling In the Deep. Rolling In the Deep is the song that turned Adele into a pop superstar in the US. Fusing elements of pop, blues, disco, and gospel, it is a song that is without specific genre. Consequently, "Rolling In the Deep" set aBillboard record for appearing on more different genre radio charts than any other song. "Rolling In the Deep" was released as the first single from Adele's second album 21. It has sold nearly six million copies in the US alone and spent seven weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. "Rolling In the Deep" has been nominated for Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Someone Like You is another one. Adele says that she wrote "Someone Like You" when she was exhausted from writing angry songs about her broken relationship. She wrote it to feel OK with herself about the two years in the relationship. Adele performed "Someone Like You" live at the Brit Awards in February 2011 and nearly broke down in tears at the end. The performance was lauded with praise and the song nearly instantly went to the top of the UK pop singles chart. In August of 2011 Adele performed the song live at the MTV Music Awards and it had similar chart impact in the US climbing to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks.
Beside, Skyfall is also melodious. Adele was hesitant to accept the assignment to perform the next James Bond theme song. However, after she and producer/songwriter Paul Epworth ("Rolling In the Deep") completed "Skyfall," she said it was a fun experience. The pair looked back at such classic James Bond themes as "Goldfinger" and "Live and Let Die" for inspiration. The final product was an instant commercial and critical success.
It is just because of this song’s popularity, it has different cover versions. Grammy Award-nominated Texan blues and folk musician, Ruthie Foster, covered "Set Fire To The Rain" on her album Let it Burn. Masha covered "Set Fire To The Rain" on her YouTube channel, her cover received nearly 1 million views as of November 2013.

Spring Festival
When I was a child, it could say that everyday I looked forwards to the Spring Festival. But now I think there is nothing interest about it. Even I am afraid of this festival.
But there is one point that Chinese New Year is a happy, peaceful holiday, is also a day for family reunion, which can still makes me happy.
But there is one point that Chinese New Year is a happy, peaceful holiday, is also a day for family reunion, which can still makes me happy.
Holy Grail- Holy Grail Piano Sheet Music-Jay-Z/Justin Timberlake
This article is about Jay-Z’s song, Holy Grail. And I have to say I like this song very much. And I believe that lots of people also love it. If you are just the one who love this song, then you are lucky because here I would like to share Holy Grail piano sheet music, then why not get it?
Holy Grail is American hip hop artist Jay-Z’s song from his twelfth studio album Magna Carta Holy Grail. It features vocals from singer Justin Timberlake and serves as the album's first single.
Jay-Z is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur. He is one of the most financially successful hip-hop artists and entrepreneurs in America. In 2012, Forbes estimated Carter's net worth at nearly $500 million. He has sold approximately 75 million records worldwide from all of his albums, while receiving 17 Grammy Awards for his musical work, and numerous additional nominations.
And Justin Timberlake is an American singer-songwriter, actor, record producer, andbusinessman. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, he appeared on the television shows Star Search and The New Mickey Mouse Clubas a child. In the late 1990s, Timberlake rose to prominence as the lead vocalist and youngest member of the boy band 'N Sync, whose launch was financed by Lou Pearlman.
Well, for Holy Grail , it was produced by The-Dream, Timbaland and Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon, with additional production from No ID and contains elements of Nirvana's 1991 hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Following the release of the album, the song charted in many regions, reaching number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number seven on the UK Singles Chart. The song received mixed reviews from music critics.
On August 2, 2013 Jay-Z revealed to Power 106 that he and fellow tourmate Justin Timberlake had begun shooting the music video for "Holy Grail". The music video was directed by Anthony Mandler and was released on August 29, 2013 on Facebook, making social media history as the first time a clip from major artists debuted strictly on the site. The music video became the first clip by a major music star to premiere on Facebook — and with a 24-hour exclusivity window to boot. The premiere utilizes Facebook's proprietary video player, which will have the exclusive on the clip before YouTube and any other video provider until noon EDT on Friday Aug. 30.
"What we’re doing with Jay Z today is really exciting and we think emblematic of the evolution fo music and how musicians can connect with their fans," says Nick Grudin, head of content partnerships for Facebook. "And we think that is particularly evident in Jay Z’s approach here, which will really allow him to go direct to a massive and instant global audience. It's something that only Facebook I think can really deliver in this way, given the scale of the audiences musicians have and the global nature of those audiences and the social dynamics of what happens when they engage on Facebook."
With over 17 million Facebook fans for Jay Z and 25 million for Justin Timberlake, the combined reach for "Holy Grail" is significant -- especially when compared to Twitter, where Jay Z's @S_C_ account has only 2.9 million followers and @jtimberlake has 24.9 million, slightly below his Facebook following. Plus, the portfolio of artists in Jay Z's Roc Nation family and beyond (Shakira, Rihanna, wife Beyonce) are among the platform's most-followed personalities.
Justin Timberlake and Jay Z take a deep, dark look at celebrity in their music video for Holy Grail!
As the opening track of Jay's Magna Carter… Holy Grail, you know it delivers (complete with a wink to Nirvana)!
The video even chops the original arrangement up and turns it into a brand new masterpiece. Definitely worth the second it takes you to press play, LOLz!
This particular music video is extra special because it's the first clip by a major music star to premiere on Facebook (with a 24-hour window until other video sites like YouTube or Vevo can access it)!! Makin' history!
Also In most of Jay-Z’s music it sounds fun—the “Big Pimpin’” music would lose much of its effect if it took place at, say, a Wal-Mart—but on his latest, “Holy Grail,” Jay makes a late grab at the Hollywood sadcore that’s previously been the domain of Drake. While he’s still celebrating the good life, Jay seems ambivalent whether being a celebrity is good for him as a person. Let’s run down the pros and cons of being the world’s most famous rapper, as outlined by “Holy Grail.”
The song had a hot-shot debut on many charts upon the release of the album, despite not being released as an official single. It debuted at number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100, being at the time the second highest debut on that chart of the year. It has since peaked at number four and has remained in the top 10 for 16 weeks. It has sold over 2 million copies in the US as of October 2013.
After entering at number twenty four, "Holy Grail" peaked at number seven on the UK Singles Chart.
Jay-Z had a four-day argument with Kanye West over this and another Magna Carta… Holy Grail track whilst recording their joint album Watch The Throne. "We had this whole plan when me and Kanye did [the] Watch The Throne album that we would go right into our solos after that," Jay explained in an interview with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe. "Soon as I thought we had wrapped up Watch The Throne, I made two records - I had 'Holy Grail' and 'Oceans.'"
"[There were] no lyrics on 'Holy Grail' and I recorded 'Oceans' and I played those records for Kanye," he continued. And he was like, 'No those have to go on Watch The Throne', so we spent four days arguing about those records and I was explaining to him why it wasn't right for this project and I had a whole idea for making this album called Magna Carta... the Holy Grail [part of] the name came after."
The Anthony Mandler directed clip was the first major music visual to be debuted on Facebook's video platform. The promo shows both Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake exploring the limitations that the excesses of fame imposes and the song itself was rearranged to accommodate the artistic needs of the clip. It includes a TV showing footage of boxing great Mike Tyson being knocked out by underdog Buster Douglas in a 1990 fight, which is referenced in Jay's lyrics. "We talked a lot about that. How do you become trapped by that which you worked so hard to build? Just when you think you have everything, the universe can take it all back in just one second," Mandler explained to MTV News. "There was definitely a connection between his own life, and (famous investor, aviator, and engineer who became a recluse) Howard Hughes and Mike Tyson. Tyson was a hero to many, he was almost invincible, and then, he gets knocked down by a guy like Buster Douglas. Jay definitely felt the connection there."
Holy Grail is composed in a D minor key, and plays in common time at a tempo of 72 beats per minute. The vocals ranges from a G3 to C6. Jay-Z lyrically sampled rock group Nirvana's single "Smells Like Teen Spirit", after receiving permission from Courtney Love who owns the rights to the original song. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Jay-Z stated that "Holy Grail" was "the map for the album" and that it set the tone for the rest of MCHG. When the song was first recorded for Watch the Throne Jay-Z thought it would get lost on the album and decided to keep it as the "center piece" for his next album. The song's lyrics can be interpreted as Jay-Z's and Timberlake's love-hate relationship with fame.
Holy Grail Lyrics
[Verse 1: Justin Timberlake]
You take the clothes off my back
And I let you
You steal the food right out of my mouth
And I watch you eat it
I still don't know why
Why I love you so much
Ohhh
You curse my name
In spite to put me to shame
Have my laundry in the streets
Dirty or clean
Give it up for fame
But I still don't know why
Why our love is so much
Yeah
[Hook]
And Baby
It's amazing I'm in this Maze with you
I just cant crack your code
One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day you're so cold
One day you here, one day you there, one day you care
You're so unfair
Sipping from the cups
Till it runneth over, Holy Grail
[Verse 2: Jay-Z]
Blue told me remind you niggas
Fuck that shit y'all talk about
I'm the nigga, uh caught up in all these lights and cameras, uh
But look what that shit did to Hammer, uh
God damnit it I like it
The bright lights is enticing
But look what it did to Tyson
All that money in one night
30 mill for one fight
But soon as all the money blows, all the pigeons take flight
Fuck the fame, keep cheating on me
What I do, I took her back, fool me twice
That's my bad, I cant even blame her for that
Enough to make me wanna murder, Momma please just get my bail
I know nobody to blame
Kurt Cobain, I did it to myself
[Bridge: Justin Timberlake]
And we all just entertainers
And were stupid, and contagious
And we all just entertainers
[Hook: Justin Timberlake]
And Baby
Its amazing Im in this maze with you
I just cant crack your code
One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day you're so cold
One day you here, one day you there, one day you care
You're so unfair sipping from the cup
Till it runneth over, Holy Grail
[Verse 3: Jay-Z]
Now I got tattoos on my body
Psycho bitches in my lobby
I got haters in the paper
Photo shoots with paparazzi
Can't even take my daughter for a walk
See them by the corner store
I feel like I'm cornered off
Enough is enough
I'm calling this off
Who the fuck I'm kidding though?
Im getting high
Sitting low
Sliding by
In that big body
Curtains all in my window
This fame hurts
But this chain works
I think back
You asked the same person
If this is all you had to deal with
Nigga deal with
It, this shit aint work
This light work
Camera snapping, my eyes hurt
Niggas dying back where I was birthed
Fuck your iris and IRS
Get the hell up off of your high horse
You got the shit that niggas die for
Dry yours
Why you mad
Take the good with the bad
Dont throw that baby out with the bath water
Youre still alive
Still that nigga
Niggas you survived
You still getting bigger nigga
Living the life
Vanilla wafers
In a villa
Illest nigga alive
Michael Jackson thriller
[Hook: Justin Timberlake]
And Baby
Its amazing I'm in this maze with you
I just cant crack your code
One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day youre so cold
One day you here, one day you there, one day you care
You're so unfair sipping from the cups
Till it runneth over, Holy Grail
[Verse 4: Justin Timberlake]
You get the air right out my lungs
Whenever you need it,
And you'd take the blade right out my heart
Just so you can watch me bleed
And I still don't know why...
(Don't know why)
Why I love it so much...
Yeah...
And you play this game
In spite to drive me insane
I got it tattooed on my sleeve forever in ink
With guess who's name
But I still don't know why
(Don't know why)
Why our love is so much
Yeah...
[Hook: Justin Timberlake]
And Baby
It's amazing Im in this maze with you
I just cant crack your code

One day you screaming you love me loud
The next day youre so cold
One day you here, one day you there, one day you care
Youre so unfair
Sipping from the cup
Till it runneth over, Holy Grail

A Thousand Years and A Thousand Years Sheet Piano
A Thousand Years was a song by Christina Perri and David Hodges.
Christina Perri is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Philadelphia. Her debut single, which was an emotional ballad called "Jar of Hearts" charted after it was featured on the Foxtelevision show So You Think You Can Dance in 2010, and went on to sell over 3 million copies in the United States and was a hit around the world, in the UK it reached number three in the charts and spent over 3 months in the UK Top 40. A few months later, Perri released her first extended play, The Ocean Way Sessions.
And David Hodges is a songwriter, producer, composer, keyboardist and vocalist from Little Rock, Arkansas who has sold over 50 million records. He is well known for being a member of the band Evanescence, which he left in 2002. He has also been part of the bands Trading Yesterday, The Age of Information, AVOX, Arrows To Athens, and Passengers.
A Thousand Years is taken from the album The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The song serves as the second single from the album. The song was released as a digital download on October 18, 2011 worldwide. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (commonly referred to as Breaking Dawn – Part 1) is a 2011 American romantic fantasy film directed by Bill Condon and based on the novel Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. The first part of a two-part film forms the fourth installment in The Twilight Saga series. All three main cast members, Kristen Stewart,Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, reprised their roles.
Perri re-recorded the song with vocals from Steve Kazee for the The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack titled "A Thousand Years, Pt. 2". The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (commonly referred to as Breaking Dawn – Part 2) is a 2012 American romantic fantasy and adventure film directed by Bill Condon and also based on the novel Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. The second part of a two-part film forms the fifth and final installment in the series The Twilight Saga, and is the conclusion of the 2011 film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. All three main cast members, Kristen Stewart,Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, reprise their roles, with Mackenzie Foy portraying Renesmee.
Critics praised the song for its lyrics as well as Perri's voice. Bill Lamb from About.com gave the song 4 stars (out of 5) saying that, "Initially, it sounds just a bit sappy and even a bit twee, however, stick with it and as the Waltz time begins to sway more and more the song moves into a bridge that is stunningly gorgeous. It then melts back down into a gentle place before sweeping along into a pleasing conclusion." He also praised Perri's voice, stating, "She uses her voice to a great effect sounding almost as if we were sitting with a friend who chose to speak to us in a song instead of everyday speech patterns. Instead of pushing her voice to power through a huge chorus, she lets the backing track do the speaking.
On the week of October 23, 2011, "A Thousand Years" debuted at No. 74 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and No. 70 on Canadian Hot 100. It has reached number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Christina her second top 40 hit. As of December 2012, the song has sold over 2 million digital downloads in the US.
Christina Perri Explains How She Wrote "A Thousand Years" for 'The Twilight Saga'. The five Twilight films have featured songs by Bon Iver, Anya Marina, and Lupe Fiasco, but there's only one tune that's become the anthem for the franchise. Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years," a romantic song about the fear of falling in love, is a sleeper hit. It played during the credits of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1, but after fans heard it on the movie's soundtrack, they adopted it as the song to stand for Bella and Edward's romance. Christina was asked to record a new version of the tune forBreaking Dawn—Part 2, and this rendition is an acoustic duet featuring Tony Award-winner Steve Kazee from the Broadway showOnce. We spoke to Christina about what first inspired the song and the new music she's recording.
"In Breaking Dawn – Part 1, the song was in the credits. And it was the second credit song, so most of the people had pretty much left the theatre, but it connected with all of the fans more than the singles from the soundtrack and the bigger scenes. So that's what makes it really special that they asked me if it could be in the most epic six minutes of the final film. It plays during the last moments that we see Edward and Bella, and then a curtain call of the whole cast, so it's pretty epic. Now the song is not just for Edward and Bella; it's for the whole franchise. It's crazy for my little Twihard heart."
A Thousand Years Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid
To fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt
Suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
(Chorus)
I have died every day
waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
(Verse 2)
Time stands still
beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything
Take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath,
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
(Chorus)
I have died every day
Waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
And all along I believed
I would find you
Time has brought
Your heart to me
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
One step closer
One step closer
(Chorus)
I have died every day
Waiting for you
Darlin' don't be afraid,
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
And all along I believed
I would find you
Time has brought
Your heart to me
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a
Thousand more
